Although, this corindon exists in a multitude of colors, except red. In that case it would be ruby. This rare gem is intensively sought for its high demand in jewellery.

The nicest specimens come from Kashmir, India but they are also found in Ceylon, Pakistan, Thailand, Australia, and Africa.

Sapphires except for red can come in many colors, yellow, green, orangy-pink, pink, white, orange, purple, black, and of course light blue to dark (night) blue.
