The ruby like the sapphire, is a member of the corindons family.

The most beautiful specimens come from the mines of Mogok in Burma.

The color that is the most sought is blood red. This gem is very rare and very demanded by jewellers to valorize a broche, a ring, a necklace, a bracelet, or earrings.

Its clarity varies from VVS (very rare, and more expensive than a white diamond if over 4 carats) to opaque.
